New Family Social LGBTQ+ Fostering Awareness Week
New Family Social LGBTQ+ Fostering Awareness Week

Published: Monday, 1st March 2021

The Royal Borough of Greenwich is proud to be supporting LGBTQ+ Fostering and Awareness Week.

We strive to be a welcoming, inclusive borough and encourage people from all backgrounds to consider fostering or adopting.

In 2020, one in six adoptions in England were made by a same-sex couple. Sexuality, gender and relationship status will not stand in the way of you starting your family in Greenwich.

Councillor Matt Morrow, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: “This week is all about raising awareness and dispelling myths that surround fostering and adoption.

“Our borough is brimming with people from all walks of life. Every child deserves a loving home and we encourage any member of the LGBTQ+ community to get in touch if you are considering fostering.”

We are delighted to be supporting New Family Social’s LGBTQ+ Fostering and Awareness week, held between March 1 and 7.

All week we will be sharing facts and squashing myths that surround LGBTQ+ fostering.

On Saturday, March 6, we have our own fostering information event which is a perfect first step for anybody considering starting their journey.
