The festive season will be very different for all of us this year, but we are busy decking the halls to make this yuletide as magical as ever for our residents.

Please note this article was updated on 4 November 2020 to reflect the change of event dates due to the national lockdown.

Cllr Danny Thorpe, Leader of the Royal Borough of Greenwich said: “This has been one of the toughest years we’ve all had to face in recent times and Christmas is certainly not going to be cancelled in Royal Greenwich. We’re doing things differently this year to make sure we can offer festive fun in a safe and distanced way, so we will be transforming Avery Hill Park into a magical light trail for all residents to come and enjoy the Christmas cheer. We’re also keeping our Christmas markets across the borough where you can pick up a unique gift for friends and family and support a small local business at the same time.”

Grab your wellies and step into Christmas at an enchanting after-dark trail lighting up Avery Hill Park from Saturday 28 November.

Giant baubles, glittering reindeer and sparkling icicles will transform the park into a magical wonderland bringing Christmas cheer to the whole family.  Discover the nutcracker trail with hidden letters for you to collect as you stroll through the fairy lit trees. Collect all the letters to spell a festive word and win a prize.

Round off your magical evening with a festive hot chocolate or mulled wine to keep you warm.

The Sparkle in the Park winter light trail is free for all residents, but to keep you safe and manage visitor flow, you will need to book a time slot to come along. Remember, keeping in line with COVID-19 restrictions, the maximum group size allowed in six.

There are a limited number of tickets available. If you book a ticket and can no longer make your slot, please cancel your ticket so that someone else can enjoy the festivities.

Sparkle in the Park is open from Saturday 12 December to Sunday 20 December (excluding Monday and Tuesday), from 4pm to 9pm (last entry at 7.45pm).
