Prepare to deck the halls at our final free Christmas spectaculars.

Tis the season to be jolly at the Thamesmead Christmas Sparkle on Friday 30 November. Our seasonal spark-tacular, run in partnership with Peabody, takes place from 4pm to 7pm at the Clocktower, Joyce Dawson Way.

There's entertainment to bring joy to all. Punchdrunk make a special appearance, hosting a festive drop-in decoration-making workshop. You can also enjoy live performances including Boppin' Bunnies Christmas show on a pop-up music stage and Pytchwood, craft workshops, Miyuki Kasahara making 3d masks, ice carving, street performers, face painting and make sure you have some of the delicious free hot chocolate and mince pies. Our wonderful Christmas extravaganza then culminates in a dazzling tree lighting ceremony which is set to dazzle at 6pm.

A Recycled Christmas

We're bringing the magic of A Recycled Christmas to the Woolwich Winter Warmer with IKEA and Punchdrunk leading the festivities on Saturday 1 December from 12noon to 6pm at General Gordon Square and Powis Street.

IKEA stages craft activities to promote recycling and sustainable living and also creates a cosy outdoor covered seating area near the big screen showing festive children's films. While Punchdrunk gives you the chance to take part in a decoration-making workshop.

The Worldbeaters Spark drumming group lead the musical entertainment with other acts such as the Ukulele Ska Collective, Boppin Bunnies and local group Decks and Quartz. There's ice sculpting, and the GCDA Surplus Feast tent where hot food is provided for a donation. Our councillors will also be on hand at the Community Engagement tent for you to give your views.

Lantern making workshop

You can take part in the lantern making workshop from 11.30am to 2.30pm at Woolwich Library - lanterns will be made from plastic milk bottles so bring one if you can - then take part in the lantern lit parade which leads to the Christmas lighting ceremony in General Gordon Square. The procession then carries on to Artillery Square for the firework finale at the Royal Arsenal RARE Christmas event, taking place on the same day from 4pm to 8pm.

Leader of the Council, Cllr Danny Thorpe said: "The Thamesmead Christmas Sparkle and Woolwich Winter Warmer are fantastic events to finish our season of festive activities. There's so much to do, see, eat and make, so come along and enjoy the festivities with us."
