The Royal Borough is launching its new look website on Wednesday 8 August.

The new site will be easier to search so customers can easily find what they are looking for as well as being mobile friendly, accessible, safe and secure.

Do things online at a time that suits you

From paying Council Tax to applying for a school place, to reporting a noise complaint - customers will be able to do things online at a time that suits them using a PC, smart phone or tablet.

When customers arrive on the homepage they will be greeted by a friendly and intuitive interface and a prominent search bar that asks, 'How can we help you today?'

'Listened to residents and made the website easier to search'

Councillor Danny Thorpe, Leader of Royal Greenwich, said: "The launch of Royal Greenwich's new website is another step towards residents, businesses and visitors having access to council services twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

"We have listened to residents and made the website easier to search so people can easily find what they are looking for. Like everyone else they have expectations about what they want to do online, to save time, and we are committed to expanding the range of Council services available so they can get on with their busy lives."

Designed from the user's perspective

The Council's extensive user testing, conducted with residents, identified that the menu options should be in everyday language that they were using in their search terms. The refreshed page design, with the most common tasks at the top of each page, will also improve each visitor's experience of the site.

More than 50 per cent of visitors to Royal Greenwich's current site are using their smart mobile phone or tablet. The new site will be mobile friendly and responsive to automatically re-size to a range of screen sizes on mobile devices.

To ensure a great customer experience, for all, the new website will meet accessibility best practice and standards including the introduction of assistive technology that is able read aloud the text on each page and translate it into different languages.

Get online at your local library

Residents who do not have the internet at home, or a smart mobile phone, can access the Council website at libraries in the borough and The Woolwich Centre and The Eltham Centre.
