It's free to enter the competition which helps keep the 'Green' in Greenwich and highlights Royal Greenwich's continuing commitment to improving the environment for the benefit of local people.

Delivered in partnership with sponsor Coolings Garden Centre, it provides a great opportunity for amateur gardeners to showcase their skills.

Categories and prizes

The five categories will be assessed by independent judges:

• Front garden
• Back garden
• Communal garden
• Hanging baskets, window boxes or pots
• Commercial garden or containers (for any pub, restaurant, shop or other business)

All entrants will receive a £5 voucher for Coolings Garden Centre (one per household) and winners will receive additional vouchers at an awards ceremony later in the year.

The competition opened on Monday 7 May and the closing date for entries is Friday 22 June.
