Residents can explore Eltham's hidden gems for free on the annual 'Be a Local Tourist Day'.

A wide range of activities and historical adventures are on offer on Sunday 25 March, whether you're looking to find out more about the local area or just a fun day out.

'Visit the amazing attractions right on your doorstep'

This year there is plenty on offer for intrepid local tourists, including:

  • a free guided walk of the town centre, and local roads and parks with Greenwich Get Walking
  • free guided tours of Eltham Lodge, and Avery Hill Mansion
  • open house at Bob Hope Theatre with memorabilia on display and guided tours to see the recently completed improvements and refurbishment
  • 25 percent discount on entry to Eltham Palace and Gardens for Royal Greenwich residents.

While you're in Eltham, you can also enjoy some retail therapy or refreshments at the town's shops, restaurants, pubs and cafés.

Councillor Denise Scott–McDonald, Cabinet Member for Culture, Creative Industries and Community Wellbeing said: "Greenwich is a world class destination for visitors and Eltham's annual Be a Local Tourist Day gives residents of the borough a chance to visit the amazing attractions right on their doorstep.

"There are lots of activities for all the family to get involved in that are either free or offered at reduced rates."
