Get help with school applications at free advice sessions in Woolwich Library.

Primary school applications close on Monday 15 January 2018 so make sure you apply for a place before it's too late.

Parents and carers can get help with their application at free advice sessions which are being held at Woolwich Library from Monday 8 January to Friday 12 January from 10am to midday. The sessions will help explain the admissions process and offer support with making an application.

The easiest way is online

You can apply for up to six primary schools in order of preference. It's important to apply for places at schools where your child has a realistic chance of getting a place and the more schools you list, the better your chances of being offered a place at one of them.

The easiest way to apply is online through the eAdmissions portal – it's quick, easy and secure, plus you'll find out your result more quickly. If you prefer to complete a paper form you can download a printable copy. Make sure you use the correct postage so it doesn't get delayed, as if your application arrives after the closing date it will be treated as a late application.

'Don't leave it until the last minute'

Councillor Chris Kirby, Cabinet Member covering the portfolio for Children and Young People, said: "Starting primary school is an important and exciting milestone in every child's life so make sure that you don't leave it until the last minute to apply.

"There's never been a better time to start school in Royal Greenwich as 97 per cent of our primary schools have been rated as 'good' or 'outstanding' by Ofsted, well above the national average of 91 per cent."

Parents can apply for schools in any area but if you live in Royal Greenwich you need to apply through the Royal Borough of Greenwich. If you live in another borough, you need to apply through your home authority even if you wish to apply for a place in a Royal Greenwich school.
