A recent report revealed the Royal Borough delivered the homes in 2015-16.

The Mayor of London's London Plan Annual Monitoring Report, published in July, lists 786 new affordable homes being built in the Borough during the past 12 months.

Over a three year period, 40 per cent of the new houses built in Royal Greenwich were affordable - almost twice the London average of 24 per cent.

And there's more to come as 200 new affordable homes are set to be built with rent levels set at or below 65 per cent local market rent levels. This follows approval for the disposal of three sites.

Affordable housing schemes

Royal Greenwich has two affordable housing schemes that we run in partnership with Meridian Homestart and PA Housing Group as part of our ambitious work to provide much-needed new homes for local residents.

'Delivering the affordable, high quality homes people deserve'

Councillor Danny Thorpe, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Sustainability, said: "Quality, affordable housing is in scarce supply in London and we know that the issue of housing is a top concern for people across Greenwich, and indeed the country. I'm really proud that the decisions we have taken locally are now coming to fruition and delivering the affordable, high quality homes people deserve. We will continue our fight to get the Government to lift their restrictions that prevent us from building even more."

'Number of innovative projects underway'

Councillor Avril Lekau, Cabinet Member for Housing and Anti-Poverty, said: "We have a number of innovative projects underway to continue to increase affordable housing in the borough. This includes the recent creation of a new Community Benefit Society, Meridian Home Start, which will build and deliver new affordable housing locally, including one specifically designed for our young people who are struggling to get the first step on the housing market."
