It's really easy to ensure that you're registered to vote.

All households in the Royal Borough of Greenwich will shortly be receiving a letter asking for confirmation of the eligible voters living there.

Residents can use the security codes sent to them to simply go online to confirm their details or make changes. These could include telling us if listed voters no longer live there or if no-one living there is eligible to register to vote. They can alternatively ring a Freephone number if no changes are needed.

You can also complete the form and post it back but this cost is paid for by the taxpayer so we encourage you to only do this if you can't ring or go online.

The information provided will enable us to send a registration form to new residents who are eligible to vote and remove those who no longer live there from the electoral register.

Residents who don't respond to the letter could be fined £1,000 or get a criminal record.

'Quick and easy for residents'

John Comber, Chief Executive of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, said: "We've made it quick and easy for residents to confirm which eligible voters live at their address.

"They can simply ring a Freephone number to confirm their details are still the same or go online to make changes."
