School closures

The government has announced that schools should plan a phased reopening from 1 June, starting with nursery, reception, year one and year six. Royal Greenwich has released a statement about the reopening of our schools in our borough and we are continuing to work closely with headteachers, boards of governors, teachers, parents and carers to ensure schools are reopened safely, within national guidelines.

Schools remain open at all years for vulnerable children and those whose parents are considered key workers. The government has produced a list detailing who falls into these categories.

We’re continuing to work with schools and partners to ensure childcare is provided for those who the government has identified as key workers, such as doctors, nurses, some teachers and social workers and workers involved in food production.

Children who are entitled to free school meals, including those who are staying at home presently, will continue to have access to their meals. Individual schools are making contact with the parents of children who receive this provision. Please contact your child’s school for further information.
