Cllr Mariam Lolavar

Head judge Cllr Mariam Lolavar is the Cabinet Member for Inclusive Economy, Business and Skills at the Royal Borough of Greenwich. Having worked for a leading financial newspaper previously, she has a background in marketing, communications, and social media. 

Local businesses are the heart and soul of our community, and their dedication and innovation deserve recognition. I will be looking out for how businesses are using communications channels and techniques to build and promote their brand, engage with their customers and grow their business.

Rachel Brown

Rachel Brown is Head of Enterprise and Innovation at the University of Greenwich. She is in charge of the Generator, the University of Greenwich’s enterprise centre. She works across in-curricular and extra-curricular programmes that enable students, graduates and external stakeholders to develop entrepreneurial skills and to start and grow new ventures. 

Rachel has been working in enterprise education since 2013, when she set up a social enterprise programme in a secondary school in Tower Hamlets as part of a community regeneration scheme. She joined Queen Mary University of London later that year to manage their student enterprise programme. In 2014 she co-founded InQUBEate, Queen Mary University's first start-up incubator programme, which was shortlisted for a Wharton QS Stars award for innovation in higher education. 

I’m looking for businesses that have successfully created a niche for themselves that makes them stand out from their competitors.

Michael Bullion is CEO and Founder of Tribe Urban Entertainment. He is an innovative businessman and leader in the multimedia and entertainment industry. He is particularly passionate about helping young people develop and enhance their skills at different levels to successfully take on challenges presented to them in the media and entertainment sectors, helping them to become self-motivated and harness their entrepreneurial spirit. 

The Royal Borough of Greenwich is brimming with incredible entrepreneurial talent, resilience and dynamism. I'm looking forward to hearing about how businesses are applying these qualities in their day-to-day operations.

Cllr Majid Rahman is experienced in business engagement. He is an economy and business champion for Our Greenwich, supporting the benefits of inclusive economic growth in the borough. 

I am keen to see businesses looking at long term sustainability, engage locally and look internally on how to improve efficiency via skills development and creative skills.

Tracey Sage

Tracey Sage is Associate at Emergency Exit Arts. She has played a pivotal role in the arts, culture, and heritage sector in the Royal Borough of Greenwich and across London for over 3 decades.   

Tracey is a Creative Strategist and Cultural Producer.  She has an extensive understanding of the Public Sector, with over 30 years’ experience in culture, tourism, financial & strategic planning coupled with a keen interest in the arts, creativity, innovation, and social investment. She holds a number of Board positions and is a trusted adviser to a range of organisations in the creative and voluntary sectors; providing support to Chief Executives, Senior Leadership teams, Community Leaders and entrepreneurs. 

This is an amazing opportunity to showcase the wide range of businesses operating in Greenwich.  I’ll be looking for passion, creativity and resilience in their approach.

Steve Sayer

Steve is Vice President and General Manager at The O2. He joined The O2 in 2014 as Commercial Director, overseeing ticketing operations, merchandising, food and beverage and corporate sales along with securing exhibition content and overseeing Up at The O2, the roof walk attraction over the venue. 

Prior to joining AEG Europe, who own and operate The O2, Steve was Operations Director for Manchester City Football Club and was responsible for the match day and major event operations.  

I will be looking out for businesses that put customer or client experience at the very heart of everything they do, whether it’s an international visitor or a local resident.”

Max Skomorowski

Max is Director of the Greenwich Enterprise Board (GEB) since 2019. GEB is a social enterprise that owns, operates and develops affordable workspace within the Royal Borough. We provide high quality office and light industrial space to over 100 SMEs. We offer flexible, simple leases with no credit checks or references which has led to a wonderfully diverse tenant list and a 95% occupancy rate. Prior to GEB I worked at JLL within their Real Estate Investment & Development consultancy team.  

I am always in awe of the vast array of different businesses that operate within the Royal Borough of Greenwich. I will be looking for interesting businesses that are managing to grow in a sustainable manner during this high inflation environment.
