Humanising black boys as a radical attempt to shift society outcomes.

Over this Black History Month, The S.M.I.L.E-ing Boys Experience, which takes over Woolwich Works, will be hosting this Q&A. Hear directly from Kay Rufai, the artist behind the project, alongside two of the participants. This is an opportunity to find out how the installation addresses the specific mental health needs of black boys, while challenging the negative stereotypes often associated with this demographic in mainstream media and broader society. Kay will explore the eight week course the young males go through before their portraits are taken and the ongoing effects of the project on their lives. Panel hosted by Precious Jeffers, Education and Community Programme Manager at Woolwich Works.
