Spelling Steps - A workshop for parents/carers who wish to help their young child to learn to spell
The Spelling Steps workshop is a two and a half hour session that will increase your knowledge about the stages children go through when learning to spell and how these stages relate to different cognitive processes in the brain. It will also increase your confidence in supporting your child to: • develop their spelling skills in enjoyable ways by using helpful and informed strategies at each stage • practise spellings with fun games. The workshop provides lots of helpful information and is interactive and informal – a friendly place to learn. All of the attendees are sent a PDF of all the Activities and Games discussed to put their learning into practice without delay. The content covered is suitable for supporting children in the early stages of spelling skill development, usually aged 5 – 7 years.
