The Big Bike Ride is the ideal day out for families & friends wanting to enjoy the tranquillity of cycling along the River Thames. What better way to escape the hustle and bustle of our busy lives?

This 28-mile (mostly riverside) route stretches from Greenwich to Erith alongside the River Thames. It showcases all the wonderful open spaces, views of the city and the huge variety of wildlife that surrounds us. The Big Bike Ride is popular with families thanks to very few roads, the flat route and the choice of start points and distances to suit all ages and abilities. The longest distance of 28 miles, from Greenwich to Erith and back, is ideal for those wanting a challenge and the 14 miles route, from Greenwich to Woolwich and back, is the ideal distance for those with young children. As an added bonus, the Cutty Sark Garden Party will be taking place at our Greenwich start point. There will be food and drinks stalls plus live music: a great excuse to stop off and enjoy the atmosphere! We hope that you can join us on Sunday 6 October for a fantastic day of cycling.
