Artists and entertainers

The Royal Borough of Greenwich would like to invite artists to perform during the Royal Greenwich Tall Ships Regatta from 5 to 9 September 2014.

As part of the festivities during the regatta, Greenwich will be animated with music, dance and street theatre. There are three areas across the borough where most of the tall ships activities will take place.

What we are looking for

The events will include a range of performances on bandstands, within venues and in places and spaces across the event sites. It is hoped that the programme will have a strong water/sea theme to it.

Performers should bear in mind the nature of the event, and performances could include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Sea shanties
  • Acapella groups
  • Small bands (duos and trios)
  • Pop-up street theatre performances
  • Folk artists

Ideally the performances will be 20 to 30 minutes long and portable, taking no more than five to 10 minutes to set up.

They should be suitable for the outdoors, family groups and international audiences, and be environmentally friendly.

There may be multiple performances during the day.

Community arts fund - Support for local groups

We have developed a Tall Ships Regatta community arts fund to help local groups take part in the Tall Ships Festival.

Grants from £100 to £6,000 are available to support local groups, organisations and artists deliver projects that would be suitable to be performed outdoors during the regatta.

Projects currently in development include performance academies, exhibitions, installations, music, dance and theatre performances, many of which are nautical or water themed.

To apply for funding for projects, you will need to register with us and then complete a short expression of interest form.
