On Sunday 25 June, the car-free day will make it easy to enjoy GDIF's outdoor performances.

The car-free day is connected to the Council's Low Emission Neighbourhood work. People planning to travel to or go through Greenwich town centre on Sunday 25 June are encouraged to walk, cycle or use public transport, or plan for a slightly longer journey due to the road closures.

Largest programme of street arts in London

Part of the Royal Greenwich Festivals, the Greenwich + Docklands International Festival (GDIF) includes the largest and most intensive programme of street arts in the capital, featuring UK and international circus, theatre, dance, street games, cabaret, live art and mass participation.

Keeping the roads clear for the festival

Councillor Sizwe James, Cabinet Member for Transport, Economy and Smart Cities, said: "The Greenwich + Docklands International Festival team know how to put on a fantastic show, and we want people to be able to move around key streets in Greenwich town centre freely, so that they can enjoy this amazing outdoor experience even more."

Which roads will be affected

As a part of the festival, Greenwich will celebrate the car-free day with performances taking place in College Approach, and the northern parts of King William Walk and Greenwich Church Street. As a result, the following roads will be affected by closures or traffic restrictions between 6am and midnight on the day:

  • Creek Road
  • Welland Street
  • Greenwich Church Street (part closed)
  • College Approach (closed)
  • King William Walk (north part closed)
  • Nelson Road
  • Greenwich High Road
  • Stockwell Street
  • Norman Road

Residents and businesses in the closure areas will be contacted separately about changes to parking and access.

Residents and visitors to the event are advised to check before you travel. You can sign up for e-alerts and plan your journey by visiting the Transport for London website or for updates on the traffic in your area follow @TFLTrafficNews on Twitter.
