The three local MPs were re-elected in the General Election with increased majorities.

Clive Efford MP (Labour) was re-elected in Eltham with 25,128 votes (54.4 per cent of the vote).

Matthew Pennycook MP (Labour) was re-elected in Greenwich and Woolwich with 34,215 votes (64.4 per cent of the vote).

Teresa Pearce MP (Labour) was re-elected in Erith and Thamesmead with 25,585 votes (57.5 per cent of the vote).

Over 220 counters worked through the night and into the early hours at the Royal Borough of Greenwich to deliver the parliamentary results for the constituencies of Eltham and also Greenwich and Woolwich.

Turnout

Turnout in both constituencies was high: 46,304 ballots were cast in Eltham and 53,307 ballots were cast in Greenwich and Woolwich. Turnout was also higher than the 2015 General Election in both constituencies.

Declaration

Returning Officer for the Eltham and Greenwich and Woolwich constituencies, Mayor Peter Brooks was able to make the declaration for Eltham at 2.36am while the results for Greenwich and Woolwich were declared at 3.06am.

Votes in the Erith and Thamesmead constituency were verified and counted by the London Borough of Bexley who made the declaration at 3.45am. Voter turnout was 63.8 per cent - an increase on the 2015 General Election turnout.

Greenwich and Woolwich constituency (Turnout: 69.06 per cent)

  • Caroline Louise Attfield, Conservative Party = 13,501
  • Daniel Harry Garrun, Green Party = 1,605
  • Matthew Thomas Pennycook, Labour = 34,215
