Celebrating the turning on of the Christmas lights and Roald Dahl's 100th birthday.

The turnout at Eltham Lights Up was in its thousands as residents saw characters from the Roald Dahl books take to the streets of Eltham along with many other festive entertainers.

Eltham Police Station and Fire Station saw hundreds of residents meet the police dogs and horses while the children enjoyed taking part in fun activities.

Talent on parade

Residents were entertained with music and activities throughout the three hour festive event as local schools and community groups took to the street to show off their carefully hand-crafted lanterns and showcase their dancing and singing skills.

Cabinet Member for Culture, Creative Industries and Community Well-Being, Councillor Denise Scott- McDonald said: "Another year, another brilliant Christmas event. The performers, singers and the Roald Dahl characters in particular proved to be such a hit with the children as we celebrated the 100th anniversary of Roald Dahl. The bar has truly been set for the remaining Christmas celebrations in Woolwich and Greenwich."
