The website provides up-to-date information on improvements to the Abbey Wood area.

Abbey Wood is undergoing lots of improvements to make the area an even more attractive place to live, work and relax. The central focus is a brand new station which Crossrail trains will start running from in 2018 and this in turn is prompting widescale improvements to the whole area including new shops and commercial space, a new library, new public open spaces and modernised roads and pavements.

The improvements are being jointly delivered by a number of partners. The 'Your Abbey Wood' website has been developed to provide a one-stop site for information.

About Your Abbey Wood website

The Royal Borough of Greenwich, London Borough of Bexley, Peabody Housing and Network Rail have helped to put the website together. It provides information on:

  • Wilton Road public space improvements
  • Harrow Manorway Public Realm Project
  • Abbey Wood Station Public Realm Project including Felixstowe Road and Gayton Road
  • News about the Elizabeth line station being built as part of the Crossrail project
  • Lesnes Abbey heritage site.

Up-to-date information in one place

Councillor Denise Hyland, Leader of the Royal Borough of Greenwich and Ward Councillor for Abbey Wood, said: "Abbey Wood is changing and we are creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere for residents, businesses and commuters, emphasising a 'village' feel to the local area.

"This new website, we hope, will provide local people with one place to find up to date information about what is happening in the area and my door is always open to anyone who wants to feedback their views on what is happening."

'Positive work that will bring great benefits'

Leader of the London Borough of Bexley, Cllr Teresa O'Neill OBE, said: "There is so much going on in Abbey Wood and Thamesmead - all really great positive work that will bring great benefits to residents and businesses. With so much happening it is vital that we keep all those affected in the loop. This new website should do just that. With links to partners involved in the project and regular updates it should be 'the' place to go for all your Abbey Wood news during the improvements."
