Join register, disabled children's parents and carers urged

Published Thursday, 01 December 2011

Families of disabled children are being urged to sign up to receive newsletters.

Parents and carers of children with physical or learning disabilities and additional needs can join Greenwich Council's Disabled Children and Young People's Register.

The Council sends out regular information updates on activities, opportunities, services and entitlements.

The latest mailout - including advice for parents and children on the flu jab - is being sent out to hundreds of families who have already joined the register.

Confidential

Greenwich Council's Disabled Children and Young People's Register is a confidential list of names and basic information about children and young people with disabilities and additional needs.

Children with physical or learning disabilities who live in the borough and are aged 0-19 can be placed on the register. Being on the register means families can get up-to-date information on services, events and activities for their children through regular newsletters and bulletins.

Parents can also get involved in discussions and consultations on future services and opportunities for disabled children.

Signing up to the register is voluntary; any information given is confidential and being on the register helps Greenwich Council to plan services for the current and future needs of local children.

For more information and to request a registration form call Greenwich Council's Families Information Service on 020 8921 6921 or email fis@greenwich.gov.uk.
