Residents will soon be able to gain one-to-one help in applying for a Blue Badge.

Applications for the scheme can only be made online but the Royal Borough of Greenwich is launching face-to-face appointments from 1 April to make the process simpler.

Residents will be able to visit the Eltham Centre on Mondays, Woolwich Centre on Wednesdays or Abbey Wood Neighbourhood Office on Thursdays to get the help they need to successfully complete their application - whether they are applying for a new badge or renewing one.

The Council cannot process applications until the correct documents and payment are received so the new sessions should help minimise requests for further information.

Blue Badges enable people who are disabled to park closer to their destination if they meet certain criteria such as receiving a higher rate of the mobility component of the Disability Living Allowance.

Information sessions

Sessions will be available on the following dates, times and locations:

  • Mondays: Eltham Centre in Sherard Road, 10am to 4pm
  • Wednesdays: The Woolwich Centre in Wellington Street, 10am to 4pm
  • Thursdays: Abbey Wood Neighbourhood Office in Eynsham Drive, 10am to 4pm.

Make an appointment

Appointments will need to be booked in advance by contacting the Mobility Team at mobility-duty@royalgreenwich.gov.uk. Residents will be asked to bring all the necessary documentation which is listed on the Council website.

'Make it easier for people to complete their applications'

Councillor David Gardner, Cabinet Member for Health and Adult Social Care, said: "We are launching sessions to help with Blue Badge applications at three locations across the Borough in direct response to residents' requests.

"We want to make it easier for people to complete their applications to ensure that those in need of a Blue Badge are able to apply for one with minimal effort."
