Small Business Saturday takes place on 2 December and is the national day dedicated to celebrating and supporting small businesses.

Last year's Small Business Saturday saw millions of people out nationally, spending almost £717 million with small businesses on the day, showing how thinking Small makes a Big difference.

Shopping locally means small and independent businesses get to benefit from increased sales, helping our business sector to thrive and continue to provide existing jobs and create new employment opportunities locally.

Free parking in Council car parks

This year there will be free parking in all Council run car parks across Royal Greenwich ‎on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 December to make it even easier to shop local. Many small businesses across the Borough will be displaying a Small Business Saturday logo in their windows and offering discounts to shoppers.

How to get involved

Businesses who want to get involved with Small Business Saturday should contact the Council's Business Engagement team via business@royalgreenwich.gov.uk.

Greenwich One Card

Greenwich One Card membership gives access to a wide range of discounts and money off products and services at participating local businesses, including The O2, ExCeL, Greenwich Theatre and local shops and restaurants.

'Show your support for your favourite small trader'

Councillor Denise Hyland, Leader of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, said: "We are very lucky in our borough so have a wealth of small, independent traders who offer something unique alongside some of the larger and more traditional high street chain.

"It's incredibly important that we show our support for the valuable contribution small and Independent Retailers make to our high streets and the local economy.

"Small Business Saturday is the perfect day to get out and show your support for your favourite small trader - maybe it's your local dry cleaners, maybe it's your favourite florist, butcher's, jewellery shop or deli - but get out there and shop local. And don't forget to use your Greenwich One Card so you can get some discounts from participating businesses too.

"Join us on Twitter and send us a selfie of you with your favourite business! Use the hashtag #SmallBizSatUK and @Royal_Greenwich and we'll retweet your post."
