Cleaning the borough

The Council is committed to keeping Greenwich clean and green.

Grass verges and green areas

The Council's cleaning teams maintain all grass areas, shrubs and verges according to a set programme. All litter on grass verges is picked up at least once a week.

Trees

The Council will remove dangerous branches up to 1.8m (6ft) and trees within 24 hours.

Cleaning Council-owned buildings

Lifts, stairs, landings and steps

Cleaning teams aim to sweep and mop the lift within three working hours of a report, and clean stairways every week.

Bulk collections

All bulky household items will be removed from Council residential blocks within five working days of a report.

Chutes/chute rooms

Blocked chutes will be cleared within 24 hours, if an emergency. Repairs will be completed in three to five working days.

Lighting in blocks

The Council aims to replace bulbs by the next working day of a report.

Window cleaning

Windows are cleaned as part of a annual programme. Problems in communal areas of blocks will be dealt with by the Council staff responsible for the block.

Internal graffiti

This will be removed within three working days of a report.
