Listed buildings register
The List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest is a national register of our built heritage. This register is required under the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990. The register is constantly under review.
You can inspect the updated register of Royal Greenwich's nationally listed buildings by downloading it or visiting the Royal Borough of Greenwich's Planning Department. This register contains descriptions of each building.
Carrying out works to a listed building
You must obtain listed building consent to demolish, extend or alter a listed building, internally or externally. Buildings are listed in their entirety, inside and out. There is no such thing as a listed facade.
We advise you to contact the Royal Borough before carrying out any works to a listed building. It is a criminal offence to demolish or alter a listed building without listed building consent.
