Electrical Engineer

Salary: £35,000 per annum

Hours: Shift patterns - work on a four-on and four-off 12-hour shift pattern, split either AM or PM.

Location: North Greenwich

Essential criteria:

  • Must have a Driving Licence
  • qualified electrician (240v)
  • relevant working experience of 12V, 24V, 415V 3-phase systems
  • effective communicator and report writer
  • able to work varying shift patterns
  • team player who enjoys working in a high-achieving environment.

Desirable:

  • Working experience in the Marine or Public Transport sector.

Key accountabilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day maintenance and servicing of all vessels
  • service and maintain all electrical systems on board Thames Clippers' vessels
  • ensure all faults and repairs are logged and reported
  • ensure that any work carried out is fully reported
  • adhere to all Health and Safety regulations.

Main activities:

  • Ensure that all Thames Clippers vessels' electrical systems are fully safety checked in line with the company and statutory legislation. This includes all ships' alarms
  • ensure all Thames Clippers craft are kept in service wherever possible, by ensuring effective and efficient maintenance is carried out at all times by prioritising maintenance where possible during quieter periods
  • carry out planned and unplanned maintenance on vessels as required including reasonable requests for additional support when needed
  • work as part of a full engineering team, ensuring that all work carried out is recorded and reported accurately, following the necessary guidelines
  • proactively seeking ways to improve personal, team and business performance
  • ensure that you comply with all Health and Safety regulations and safe working practice as required by current legislation and the company's Health and Safety Policy and practices.

Day Engineer

Salary: £27,000 per annum

Hours: Shift patterns - work on a four-on four-off 12 hour shift pattern, split either AM or PM.

Location: North Greenwich

Essential:

  • Relevant experience of working on large diesel engines such as boats or lorries
  • relevant experience of working in high pressure environments whilst maintaining high levels of safety and maintenance practices (returning boats to service quickly and reliably)
  • effective communicator and report writer
  • able to work varying shift patterns
  • positive with a 'can do' attitude. 

Desirable:

  • Working experience in the public transport sector.

 Key accountabilities:

  • oversee the day to day maintenance and servicing of all vessels
  • service and maintain all mechanical systems on board vessels
  • ensure all faults and works/repairs are logged and reported as appropriate
  • adhere to all health and safety regulations.

Main activities:

  • Ensure that all vessels are kept in service wherever possible, adhering strictly to all company and statutory legislation
  • work towards the highest maintenance standards by ensuring effective and efficient maintenance is carried out at all times in line with relevant procedures
  • undertake all planned maintenance and mechanical repairs to the vessels whilst they are being serviced as instructed by the Duty Marine Engineer or Head of Engineering
  • work with the Electrical Engineers to undertake any cabin repairs where time allows
  • work as part of a full engineering team, ensuring that all work carried out has the appropriate paperwork completed and is reported to the Duty Engineer available or during shift changeover
  • ensure that all relevant information is communicated effectively to ensure the information is received and easily understood
  • maintain a safe and tidy working environment for the individual and the wider team
  • ensure that all equipment used is clean and serviceable when returned to the correct location at the end of each shift.

Night Dispatch Manager

Salary: £25-30k per annum

Hours: 45 hours per week, over 5 evenings: earliest start at 5pm, latest finish at 3am.

This permanent position at a top artisan wholesale bakery in Greenwich, is to manage the team of packers, ensuring adherence to health and safety and food hygiene regulations.

Duties include:

  • overseeing the packing of bakery products
  • ensuring that correct and complete customer orders can be delivered, in line with planned delivery rounds
  • placing orders and maintaining stock levels
  • training and motivating the packing team.

Pastry Chef

Salary: Approx. £21k per annum

Hours: 40 per week

A busy café in Woolwich town centre is looking for an ambitious pastry chef to join their small but friendly team of staff. The successful candidate will help the café to extend its range of desserts and cakes.

Bus drivers needed for local area

Salary: £10 per hour during 6 week training, this then goes up to £11.20 per hour after completion of the training. There is additional payment of £16 for night drivers for each night shift.

Work/shift patterns:

  • Full time 40 hours per week including weekends and Bank Holidays. Shifts will be confirmed after successful interviews.
  • part-time work can involve either working 3 days per week (daytime) or night working only.

Location: Plumstead and Catford areas.

Requirements:

  • A Standard Driving licence is needed, though no previous bus driving experience is required
  • no criminal convictions
  • no driving bans within the last 5 years
  • no more than 6 points taken out from current driving licence.

GLLaB will be holding an open recruitment event at the Woolwich Office on Calderwood Street on Wednesday 9 September where you can register your interest. Applicants will need to complete application forms and medical questionnaires (hard copies will be provided by the employer at GLLaB’s open recruitment event).

All candidates will need to pass basic literacy and maths assessment tests. They will then be interviewed on a one-to-one basis (on the same day).

Bank chef

Recruiting for catering professionals to help out on a casual basis in a local care home's catering facilities, including in the main catering kitchen, a café and catering services.

You will be involved in supporting the day-to-day catering operations as cover for the existing teams, in tasks such as food preparation, cleaning, serving customers and operating kitchen equipment.

To be successful in this role you will need to have experience of working in a busy catering environment and have excellent customer-service skills with a person-centred approach.
