Apprenticeship opportunities

Apprenticeships give you the opportunity to work for a real employer and gain a real qualification whilst gaining valuable workplace skills and experience. The following apprenticeship opportunities are currently available in Royal Greenwich.

Please note that, unless stated otherwise, these are not advertisements for apprenticeships with the Royal Borough of Greenwich.


Royal Borough of Greenwich apprenticeships

We have a large number of apprenticeships available, in areas such as business administration, customer service and employment support. You'll get a good foundation to your career, on-going learning and development, and prospects for future progression.

You'll receive:

  • a nationally recognised NVQ level 2 or 3 qualification in a related training framework (you'll have study release for this)
  • a fortnightly paid training allowance
  • full time roles (35 hours per week, including training).

GLLaB are a running recruitment event on Wednesday 26 July 2017 in Woolwich Town Hall by appointment only. You'll be asked to take a basic numeracy and literacy assessment and have a one to one interview.

These apprenticeshipe will be based at Royal Borough of Greenwich Council sites, under the employment and support of the London Apprenticeship Company.


Labour in Construction apprenticeship scheme

If you're considering a career in construction, the Labour in Construction apprenticeship scheme may be right for you.

Apprenticeships available include:

  • painting and decorating
  • multi trade
  • bricklayers
  • ground works
  • electrical
  • plumbing
  • and other apprenticeships that may include civil engineering.

This scheme involves a seven week boot camp, which includes:

  • Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) training
  • City and Guides Level 1 multi skills in construction qualification
  • one week site experience with a contractor
  • a one week construction project
  • employability.

After completion of the boot camp, you will be interviewed by a contractors or developer working with the Royal Borough of Greenwich.

The Greenwich Apprenticeship Scheme has been developed by Greenwich Local Labour and Business (GLLaB) to offer career opportunities in construction to local residents, and to increase the number of skilled workers living in the Royal Borough of Greenwich.

Commercial trainee apprenticeship

Essential Living is a developer and operator of private rental homes in the UK. As a Trainee, you'll be required to work alongside the Commercial Services Team with the view to support the Brand and Supply Chain Manager and Commercial Manager on a project.

Criteria

  • Highly numerate with excellent attention to detail
  • Methodical, conscientious and organised, works to deliver high standards
  • Strong communication skills and have the ability to build effective working relationships both internally and externally
  • Able to manage and prioritise their own workload and time within the team environment
  • Good knowledge and use ability of Microsoft office packages such as Excel Word and Outlook
  • Obtain a Construction Skills Certificate Scheme card
  • Hardworking, enthusiastic, intelligent and commercially minded
  • Must have five GCSE's including English and Maths.

Post 16 trainee and apprenticeships

You can undertake a traineeship or an apprenticeship after you finish year 11. Applying for an apprenticeship is similar to applying for a job. If you're not ready for an apprenticeship, you can apply for a traineeship instead.
