Apprenticeships and work-based learning

If you want to learn how to do a job, gain skills and qualifications and get paid at the same time, then work-based learning is the choice for you.

You can get training for lots of different types of jobs and some programmes give you a job from the very first day.

You can be considered for work-based learning if you are:

• aged 16 or 17 and have just left school or college
• aged 18 or over (even if you are working) as long as you finish your training programme before your 25th birthday.

What's right for you?

Apprenticeships allow you to work for an employer where you can learn on the job, gain skills and qualifications and earn money at the same time.

National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) are work-related qualifications which give you the skills and knowledge you will need to do a job.

Entry to Employment (e2e) improves basic skills and provides an opportunity for personal and social development.
