Our council and resident community pledges

The Royal Borough of Greenwich aims to make our streets the cleanest in London - but we need your help!

This Charter recognises the very real contribution that residents can make to our community and the environment.

Together we can make the Royal Borough of Greenwich a cleaner, tidier, safer place that we can all feel proud of.

This Resident Community Charter sets out what the Council and residents promise to do, to help keep our lovely borough stay shipshape at all times.

The Council pledges to... I/We pledge to...
Collect your waste and recycling every week. From February 2023, we'll collect general waste from properties who use wheelie bins every two weeks. Sort rubbish and recycling into the correct bins and put them out on the street on the right day.
Respond promptly to issues on your street that need to be actioned. Not litter and take proactive measures to keep my neighbourhood clean and report issues to the Council that need action.
Clean your local high street daily. Help keep our streets clean by not dropping rubbish, gum or cigarette butts.
Take swift action to tackle anti-social behaviour. Never litter, fly-tip, graffiti or allow dog fouling. I pledge to always clean up after my dog if it poos in a public place.
Provide a bulky household waste collection service upon request.

(If you live in privately rented accommodation you should contact your managing agent as they may have a system in place for collection).
Only use a licensed waste carrier to remove bulky items I leave outside, and only leave items out when they are due to be collected.
Provide a Reuse and Recycling Centre that is free for residents to use.

(If you live in privately rented accommodation you should contact your managing agent as they may have a system in place for collection).
Look at upcycling or donating unwanted items where possible, or take my items to the free Reuse and Recycling Centre.
We will use our powers to encourage people not to neglect their property and garden. Be proud of my neighbourhood and keep my property and garden maintained.
Issue fines on cars that are not parked properly/are parked illegally, or paying incorrect parking fees. Not park in an inappropriate way.
