Pier licensing and port information

There are three active piers and three disused jetties in Royal Greenwich.

Piers

The Royal Borough of Greenwich owns and operates Royal Arsenal Pier, while Transport for London owns and operates the Greenwich and North Greenwich piers.

Royal Arsenal Pier - Licensing information

It is necessary for all vessel owners wishing to visit the Royal Arsenal Pier to have arranged a licence in advance. Failure to display a valid licence will incur a fine.

Contact Highways - building licences to apply for a licence.

Notes for pier licence applicants and holders

While every effort will be made to issue a licence the Royal Borough cannot be held responsible for any delays.

  • If an applicant does not have a licence they must not use the pier.
  • The pontoon at the downstream end of the pier is not available for normal use.
  • Licences are subject to availability to account for existing licensed users.
  • A licence does not guarantee a mooring or landing space.

Thames Clippers run a regular river bus service from Royal Arsenal Pier in the morning and evening. Pier users must not obstruct the access to the Thames Clippers embarkation/disembarkation during service times.
