Animal licences
Riding establishment licence
In order to provide riding lessons or hire out horses for payment, by law you need a licence from the Royal Borough of Greenwich. These licences are renewable annually.
How to obtain a licence
You can apply for a licence online by following the relevant link on the right.
Applying by post
Please contact pest control, and we will post the application form to you.
Complete the form and send it back to us. You also need to send us a cheque for the licence fee of £445.75, payable to 'The Royal Borough of Greenwich', with your application.
We will send a vet to inspect the welfare of the animals and check that their accommodation is suitable.
If you pass the inspection, we will issue you with a licence. This licence is subject to our standard conditions, and it may also contain special conditions that are only applicable to your premises.
Where a licence is granted, that licence and any subsequent licence will expire on 31 December of the year to which the licence relates.
You must renew your licence before this date if you want to continue providing riding lessons or hiring out horses for payment.
