Find a home

Housing options

There are a number of options available if you are looking for a home in Greenwich. If you are interested in renting a property from the Royal Borough of Greenwich you can register for Greenwich Homes, our choice-based lettings system.

However, there is a long wait for Council housing and you are also advised to consider private rented accommodation.

Get help

For general advice about your housing options, contact one of our advice centres to make an appointment.

If you are aged 16 or 17 and have a housing problem or are worried about becoming homeless, you can get advice from 1st Base Housing Options and Support Service.

There are also specialist services that provide help to adults who need a bit more help in finding somewhere to live because of:

  • their mental health
  • being in hospital
  • history of misusing alcohol or drugs
  • an offending history.

Changing needs

If you want to relocate or need a little extra support, you might consider:

  • swapping your home through mutual exchange
  • moving to a smaller property
  • relocating to another local authority area in the countryside or on the coast
  • sheltered housing for older people.
