Care at home
Help with living independently
The effects of age, illness and disability may lead to everyday tasks becoming more difficult. There are many ways to help yourself to remain independent and get the advice and support you need. You can benefit from:
- simple equipment
- Greenwich Telecare Service - which can provide a panic button or other equipment
- help with odd jobs in the home
- community meals service
- personal care - someone to help you look after yourself or assist you with domestic tasks such as shopping, cleaning and laundry
- advice on benefits and grants.
Social care
If you are eligible for social care, you will receive a personal budget to manage your care needs under the self-directed support (Choice and Control) scheme, following a care assessment.
Voluntary sector organisations
There are many voluntary sector organisations, both locally and nationally, that are willing to help.
The Royal Borough of Greenwich has also funded some local organisations specifically to help you with the advice and information you need.
