How the Royal Borough is organised
Departments and responsibilities
The Royal Borough of Greenwich has six departments.
Chief Executive's Department
The Chief Executive's department has overall responsibility for the Royal Borough's administration and operations.
The department includes finance and customer services, human resources and organisational improvement, legal services, communications, policy and partnerships, modernisation, libraries, parks and open spaces, cemeteries, registrars and community centres, arts and culture, community engagement, advice and benefits, revenues, electoral registration, committee services and audit and anti-fraud.
Adults and Older People's Services
The Adults and Older People's Services department has responsibility for older people, adult social care, healthier communities, supported housing and supporting people.
Children's Services
Children's Services is responsible for children's social care, safeguarding and child protection, disabled children and special educational needs, children's education and achievement, school admissions and planning, youth services, early learning and childcare.
Housing Services
Housing Services provides key services including building services, tenancy services, home ownership, asset management (repairs), community housing, strategy and partnerships.
Regeneration, Enterprise and Skills
The Regeneration, Enterprise and Skills department has responsibility for planning, worklessness prevention, regeneration, economic development, transportation, property and Greener Greenwich.
Community Safety and Environment
In addition to dealing with community safety matters for the Royal Borough of Greenwich, this directorate provides street care, caretaking, grounds maintenance, recycling and waste services.
