Building notice application
Apply for small building works
A building notice may be used in any circumstances, except when a full plan must be submitted.
Details of works
A building notice application normally requires no more information than that on the form itself, and a block plan of the site. However, occasionally you may be asked for further details.
There is no formal approval of the details. You are still required to notify Building Control when you intend to start work so that the necessary inspections can be done.
Building notices are ideal for small building works that are not usually complicated - through-rooms, chimney removals, drainage alterations, etc.
Application form and fees
The building notice application form and fees information are available for download. To apply, complete the application form and return it to Building Control with a cheque for the correct fee.
The fee is paid as one payment under the building notice route.
