Job at risk or facing redundancy?
Advice for people facing unemployment
If you are facing redundancy or your working hours have been reduced, knowing how to cope financially can be worrying.
It is important to know what help is available as many people miss out on extra support because they do not know they can claim.
You may be able to claim a range of benefits and financial support depending on your circumstances. For example, if you have been working for the same employer for at least two years you should receive Statutory Redundancy Pay.
Don't miss out
If you are a borough resident and would like a free benefits check or further information about tax credits and benefits, please contact our Welfare Rights team.
If you are still working full time and are concerned that your job might be at risk or you may have to take a salary cut, you may be able to make an early claim for tax credits.
It is also important to get specialist advice from the Citizens' Advice Bureau or a law centre. Use our advice centre finder using the link on the right for details. You can also find further useful links and telephone numbers on the right of this page.
