Financial incentives for returning to work
You could get a Job Grant if you stop getting certain benefits because you start working for 16 or more hours a week, or your partner starts working for 24 or more hours a week.
Job Grants are paid at two rates. Visit the DirectGov website using the link on the right to find out what you could get.
Who can claim
You must have been getting one of the following benefits continuously for at least six months:
- Income Support
- income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
- Incapacity Benefit
- Jobseeker's Allowance
- Severe Disablement Allowance
- Employment and Support Allowance.
You must expect your new job to last for at least five weeks.
How to claim
You do not have to fill in a claim form - just tell your local Jobcentre Plus office about the job within 21 days of starting work.
