Filming information for local residents and businesses
The Film Unit regulates filming, where possible, to ensure that production companies are guided by the film makers' code of practice, which sets the standards of behaviour required by all boroughs, the police and the Association of Local Government (ALG).
Managing the process in this way enables the Film Unit to minimise any potential disruption.
Economic benefits
Filming as an industry is of great economic benefit to the local and national economy. Local businesses can directly benefit from purchases made by the cast and crew of visiting production companies. Filming also helps to raise the profile of the borough and provides an added attraction for the tourist industry in Greenwich.
Properties
Property owners can register their properties with the Film Unit as possible locations for film makers - who will often pay a fee - to film in.
Businesses
Film crews often spend a great deal of money with local services, such as taxi firms, florists and DIY companies. An idea of the types of services they use can be found in our directory of film-friendly businesses. To add your business to the list, please contact the Film Unit.
Code of practice
Film companies work to the code of practice drawn up by the Association of London Government and the Film London.
Contact the Film Unit if a film company behaves unreasonably. We will then attempt to resolve any problems.
