Planning application guide
How to make a planning application
Anyone can make a planning application, regardless of who owns the land or buildings concerned. If you are not the owner or not wholly the owner, you have to inform the owner or co-owners.
You can appoint an agent like a solicitor, builder or architect to make an application on your behalf.
Before submitting a planning application, it is a good idea to contact our planning department for advice on the works that you are proposing to carry out.
You will then need to decide whether to make a full or outline planning application.
There are some documents you will need to submit with your application, so get these ready before you apply online or by post.
Community Infrastructure Levy
As of the 1 April 2012 the Mayoral CIL (Community Infrastructure Levy) came into force.
This has introduced a charge of £35 per square metre for development which consists of at least a single residential unit or creates 100 square metres of new floor space.
