Local Development Framework overview
Documents forming the planning framework
The Local Development Framework (LDF) is a portfolio of planning documents that will collectively deliver the planning strategy for Greenwich and replace the existing Unitary Development Plan (UDP).
The LDF spatial planning system exists to deliver positive social, economic and environmental outcomes. An integral part of the system is consultation.
Progress towards a Local Development Framework
The Council is preparing the documents that comprise the LDF.
- Core Strategy with Development Management Policies - This sets out strategic objectives for the borough, including policies and the implementation framework required to deliver the strategy. Public consultation of the draft has closed. The final version of the document will be available in summer 2012.
- Site Specific Allocations DPD - Work on these documents began in 2011 with initial public consultation taking place later in the year. Adoption of the document is expected in 2013.
- Proposals maps - The maps will be updated as needed throughout the LDF process. Proposed changes were published alongside the Draft Core Strategy with Development Management Policies in November 2010.
- Annual Monitoring Reports - These reports, published every January, assess our progress in preparing the LDF and our success in policy implementation.
- Local Development Scheme - This is a project plan for the production of a range of new Development Planning Documents for inclusion in the LDF.
- Statement of Community Involvement - This sets out how the Council involves the public and other stakeholders in the preparation, alteration and continuing review of planning policy documents and in consultation on planning applications.
- Evidence Base - All of the planning documents that comprise the LDF are required to be founded on a robust evidence base. The Council is preparing a number of background documents as evidence.
