Park tours and nature rambles
Where to find a ramble or tour
The Councils park ranger service organises regular park tours, nature rambles and conservation workdays.
All walks will finish at the starting point.
Charlton ramble
Join the park rangers on a brisk walk. Refreshments may be purchased at the Charlton House tea rooms.
- Every Tuesday at 10am
- Meet at the green behind Charlton House
- 90 minutes duration.
Oxleas Woods ramble
Join the park rangers on a brisk walk. Refreshments may be purchased at the Oxleas Café.
- Every Thursday at 10am
- Also second Sunday of each month at 10am for a lighter, informative walk
- Meet at the café on the meadow (end of Crownwoods Lane).
- Duration: 90 minutes.
Oxleas Wood volunteer workdays
Help the Shooters Hill Woodlands Working Party (SHWWP) and the park rangers with some light woodland work.
- Second Saturday of each month at 10am
- Meet at the café on the meadow (end of Crownwoods Lane)
- Duration: about three hours
- Refreshments may be purchased at the Oxleas Café.
Bostall Heath and Woods ramble
Join the park rangers on a brisk walk. Refreshments are available at the end of the tour at Greenwich and Bexley Hospice Café, where small donations are accepted.
- Every Friday at 10am
- Meet at Bostall Heath bowling green
- Duration: 90 minutes.
Well Hall Pleasaunce tour
Learn about the well-known landmarks of Well Hall Pleasaunce.
- First Wednesday of each month at 10.30am
- Second Sunday of each month at 2pm
- Meet at the main gate opposite the Co-op
- Duration: 60 minutes.
Maryon Wilson Animal Park
Meet the residents of Maryon Wilson Animal Park and help to feed them.
- Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 1.30pm during school holidays
- Every Wednesday 1.30pm at other times of the year
- Meet at the deer pen
- For individuals only (and not groups)
- Each session can take a maximum of 50 persons so come early to secure your place
- Children must be accompanied by adults
- Except during school holidays, private group tours can also be arranged.
Further information
All the tours are free of charge. You can normally just turn up at the stated time. If you have a large group of 12 or more, a private tour can be arranged. Please call the park ranger service for further details.
