Blackwall Tunnel and other crossings
The A102 runs through the Blackwall Tunnel and forms a vital link between the areas north and south of the Thames. Transport for London is responsible for the maintenance of both the tunnels and the A102 approach road.
Either or both of the tunnels may close periodically due to planned overnight and weekend maintenance works.

Deptford Creek Bridges
Our river crossings over Deptford Creek are the Deptford Creek Lifting Bridge and the Greenwich Swing Bridge.
The bridge spans Deptford Creek and forms part of the A200 Creek Road.
Check tide times to find out when bridges will be lifted
To allow river vessels to pass, the bridge will lift:
- during high tide every day
- at times booked in advance by vessel operators
Check high tide times on the Port of London website
When the bridge is lifted:
- vehicles cannot cross the lifting bridge for five to ten minutes
- the swing bridge will also be lifted so pedestrians cannot cross for five to ten minutes
Book a bridge-lift
Vessel operators can book an opening by contacting the Deptford Creek Bridge team.
Please book:
- at least 12 hours before a bridge opening is needed on a working day
- by midday on the Friday or closest workday before any opening needed during a weekend or public holiday
